Broodmare analysis

We present the breeder with a list of the top 30 stallions rated in order of compatibility with the mare. We select a shortlist of 5 stallions from this list including factors other than "compatibility", and give reasons for each of the 5 selections in order of preference.

Purchase of Broodmares

We use our system to identify broodmares with pedigrees we believe have the capacity to produce superior racehorses. For example, one Italian client purchased on our recommendation a Nijinsky mare at the Keeneland November sales for $56,000, and a mare in Ireland for 9000 gns. At the time of purchase the USA mare had had two unsuccessful matings to Secretariat, a yearling by Key To The Mint and was in foal to Danzig Connection, both assessed by us as highly compatible matings. The Irish mare had a foal by Fairy King, which we also assessed as the product of a highly compatible mating.

The Key To The Mint colt raced as Rockamundo and won the Group 2 Arkansas Derby, while the colt by Danzig Connection, raced in England as Iktamal, winner of the Group 1 Haydock Sprint.

The Fairy King colt raced as Turtle Island, winner of the 1994 Irish 2000 guineas.

Analysis of Yearlings

We use our system to analyse individual matings and make recommendations based on the compatibility rating. For example:

Croco Rouge, analysed as a highly compatible mating for the current owners as a yearling was third to Montjeu in the Prix de L'Arc De Triomphe.

Despite considerable advances in the field of genetics, geneticists have been unable to identify genes responsible for basic characteristics of the Thoroughbred such as speed or stamina. When you consider that in "time" terms the difference in speed performance between a Derby winner and a poor handicapper is only about 5 to 6%, this is hardly surprising.
